Learn the Secrets of How to Quit Smoking
Dear Fellow Smoker,
Wherever you are in the world, I just would like to thank you for being here.
I guess that the main reason that you’re here is that you want to learn how to quit smoking. But are you really ready to do it?
I know from personal experience that trying to quit is a very frustrating experience.
If you’re anything like I was then you’re probably racked with despair and worry, just at the thought of quitting. You feel empty without nicotine. I’m sure you’re sick and tired of spending money on this foolish habit and you tired of your sore throat and smoker’s cough.
You just have such a lot of stress in your life and you are wondering ways to relieve your stress without it. You just don’t know what to do and are afraid of the no man’s land that you know is coming when you’ve gone without cigarettes for a while. What will you need to do to replace your habit?
Here is a story which you can probably relate to
My friend Alison started smoking at 17. She had a stressful job working as a waitress at a pizza restaurant. One evening she had a lot of problems with a customer and during a break a friend gave her a cigarette to help her unwind. She found that it really did help her feel more calm and so she took to smoking every day. At first it was a few and then it became more and more until it was one pack a day, then two.
After a year of smoking two packs a day she knew she just had to quit. She hated everything smelling like smoke all the time and spending so much money on it. Alison just quit, cold turkey, and although the fear or cravings almost caused her to quit she stuck it out for about 3 months.
Then she had a big row with her boyfriend – they split up – and she started smoking again to cope with the emotions. Alison did this another 4 or 5 times over the next few years – she never really learnt how to quit smoking.
Some time later when she was preparing for her wedding she decided she was going to quit for the final time. She started working out at the gym as an alternative to her smoking addiction!
She found that directing her focus on getting fit and trim for her wedding took her attention away from her smoking habit and she was able to quit successfully. Now Alison’s been married a few years, has a young family and has lost all interest in smoking. She has found healthier alternative ways to deal with the stresses of life and hates the thought of ever smoking again.
